Stuart Pound - 30 minutes episodes

As a boy, I went to see films at the local cinema on Saturday mornings, they were 30 minutes episodes usually Westerns or adventure films. I had to keep going each week to follow the narratives. I remember film series showing Roy Rogers and Hopalong Cassidy. There was no TV for me at that time - it was the mid-50’s.

By 1960 the series I was watching « policiers » and spy stories like « Maigret » and « The Avengers » and later « Star Trek » on tv.

By 1960 I was 16 years old and started to watch Antonioni and Bergman as a series or season of films. The Hamstead Everyman cinema in London showed a season of Bergman films with a different work each week from « Port of Call » up to « The Silence », I went each week. Over 6 months 20 different Bergman films were shown.

During the 70’s and 80’s my favourite series on tv was « Monty Python », « Faulty Towers » and « Blackadder ».

Series realised by artists that I admire: David Lynch’s « Twin Peaks » on tv and John Smith’s « Hotel Diaries » in the cinema.
